BIRDS

Use this guide to find the chirpiest one in your region.

The Royal Society for the protection of birds.

British Birds is a monthly, ornithological journal read by all serious birdwatchers and ornithologists around the World and fills a unique ornithological niche between the overtly scientific journals and the wholly popular birding press.

Please look around our site. Discover what we do and why we are world leaders in wild bird research, thanks to our volunteers, members and funders. Thousands of members and volunteers take part in BTO projects, helping both campaigners and decision-makers to monitor the fortunes of our birds and to understand how they can best be conserved.

ENVIRONMENTAL

The Soil Association exists 'to research, develop and promote sustainable relationships between the soil, plants, animals and the biosphere, in order to produce healthy food and other products while protecting and enhancing the environment'. It campaigns against issues like GMOs in food and the routine use of antibiotics in conventional farming. A comprehensive information and education service is available for both consumers and producers alike, through publications, leaflets and an annual programme of events. The Soil Association's wholly owned subsidiary, Soil Association Certification Ltd, is the largest and most respected of the UK organic certification bodies. It licenses commercial food production to the highest organic standards and its distinctive certification symbol is now widely recognised as a consumer guarantee of organic quality. Our organic expertise has also been applied to developing forestry certification.
